«Google обновляет Gemini: Новый режим Guided Learning для интерактивного обучения студентов»

Gemini’s new Guided Learning mode can quiz students and create interactive study aids

Google continues to expand its educational tools with a significant update to Gemini. The tech giant has introduced a new feature called Guided Learning, designed to enhance the learning experience for students. This update follows similar educational enhancements made to platforms like ChatGPT and Claude, which aim to promote understanding by breaking down problems into step-by-step instructions, follow-up questions, and interactive examples, rather than simply providing answers.

The Guided Learning feature will be available as a toggle in the prompt box of Gemini. When activated, Gemini will treat questions as part of a conversation, testing the user’s knowledge, explaining concepts, and even generating visual aids. This interactive approach is powered by Google’s LearnLM, a collection of models fine-tuned for learning and grounded in educational research.

In addition to the Guided Learning feature, Google is offering a free year of its AI Pro plan for college students in the US, Japan, Indonesia, Korea, and Brazil. This promotion, initially announced in April for the Google One AI Premium plan (now rebranded as Google AI Pro), unlocks access to Gemini across Google Workspace apps, increases the file upload limit for NotebookLM and Gemini 2.5 Pro, and includes 2TB of storage. The subscription normally costs $200 per year, making this a significant saving for students.

Google has long been a major player in the education sector with its Chromebooks and Google Workspace tools. The introduction of Guided Learning and the AI Pro plan promotion are part of a broader strategy to create multiple generations of AI-dependent users. To further support this goal, Google has committed to investing $1 billion in funding over three years for American education. This investment will cover research, cloud computing resources, and AI literacy courses, aiming to help non-profit universities adapt to student bodies already deeply invested in AI and to act as marketing for those not yet on board.
